Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our dynamic manufacturing company in Houston, Texas. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, managing budgets, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. This role is critical in driving the financial health and growth of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Provide variance analysis and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate external audits and prepare necessary documentation.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Strategic Planning:
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop financial strategies that align with business goals.
- Provide insights on cost management, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
